This year’s GOTO Copenhagen will be going ahead with 300 (socially distanced) onsite passes up for grabs. The theme of the conference is Back to the Roots, and the organisers have invited some of our industry’s best speakers and teachers to give talks and workshops on Cloud Native, DevOps, Machine Learning, Serverless and much more.

GOTO Copenhagen 2020

The programme is focused on full stack software development with three days of conference talks, followed by two full days of masterclasses.

Conference Talk

The Instil talk on day 1 (and repeated on day 3) is entitled A TypeScript Fan’s Kotlin/JS Adventures. In this session, Garth and Eamonn will re-create a Breakout clone for the browser using Kotlin/JS and explore what this transition to KolinJS is like for a TypeScript fanboy.

Masterclass

Garth and Eamonn will also deliver the ‘Learning Kotlin/JS by Building Web Apps in React and Redux’ masterclass on day 4. In this workshop attendees will learn the full Kotlin/JS feature set by building Web Applications in React and Redux.

Attendees will create projects from scratch based on the Kotlin Gradle DSL, and then iteratively assemble a rich UI via the Kotlin/JS language and Kotlin-React DSL. Application state will be managed via Redux using the functional style with React Hooks. Participants will learn how coroutines simplify asynchronous workflows and currency as well as how interoperability with TypeScript allows developers to leverage existing JS libraries.
