Product Manager

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our growing team. This role is very hands-on and you will play a key role in designing the next generation of digital products and solutions.


The Role

Instil is a product-focused software services company that believes in building the right thing, the right way. We care deeply about what we do and how we do it. Our Product Managers partner with design and engineering in a product trio to shape products that feed into our customer’s business objectives. The trio work on defining product outcomes which allow the team to explore the opportunity and solution space to find the right things to build.

The product management role in Instil is very hands-on and involves everything from managing the stakeholders and developing product strategy to writing user stories and working with the team to ensure the successful delivery of solutions.

As part of our growing product team, you will play a key role in designing the next generation of digital products and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with customers and the team to build product solutions that support the business objectives
  • When possible, creating product strategy based on outcomes not outputs
  • Providing vision and direction to the development team and stakeholders throughout the project
  • Understanding markets, competition and customers in-depth
  • Mapping out the opportunity/problem space
  • Identifying the opportunities and solutions which deliver directly against your product strategy and business objectives
  • Work with developers and designers as part of a balanced pproduct team, to create a backlog of prioritised user stories to achieve goals and hit metrics
  • Create/Use a robust feedback mechanism to drive rapid iteration
  • Create a healthy cross-functional product team by participating in all agile ceremonies and practices
  • Advocate for a product mindset within the Instil engineering team

Need to have

  • Minimum two years working as part of an agile team in a customer facing role such as a business analyst, product owner, product manager or senior engineer
  • Passion for solving human problems through curiosity and empathy
  • Comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data
  • Has played a key role in product discovery
  • Comfortable presenting to all types of audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK

Good to have

  • Experience in user research
  • Knowledge of frameworks to understand customers, for example journey mapping or empathy mapping
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and practices
