This year, we will be a silver sponsor at the Northern Ireland Developer Conference taking place on Saturday 8th June at Riddel Hall, Queens University Belfast.
We will also have two members of the team delivering talks. Head of Learning, Garth Gilmour will be partnering with Richard Gibson to explain the benefits of fully embracing Functional Programming (FP). This talk will cover how and why you might wish to code in the Pure FP style, and walk you through the whole bestiary of scary sounding terminology. The Bestiary of Pure FP
Principal Engineer, Matthew Wilson will deliver a separate talk. With the rise of “serverless” computing could there be a point in the future where developers can also be “computerless”? If a developer had nothing but a mobile device, for example an iPad, what sort of application could they build? In this talk Matthew will attempt to test this theory to build a full stack application without the use of a laptop/computer, using swift playgrounds, AWS lambdas and dynamodb. Can a developer live in the post PC era
Now in it's second year, this is a conference where all developers can come together and learn from each other, while at the same time celebrate the range of development work happening in Northern Ireland.
